Returned home

Hello all, just popping by saying I've returned to Hong Kong safe and sound. At the moment, I'm on the bus home.

I will write one or two more blog posts tomorrow to conclude my journey.

Day 8: Meronpan

More well known as melon bread, something I'm completely addicted to. Spent the morning today on the Hikari back to Tokyo. Missed the 10.40 train and took the 11.10 instead. While walking to Osaka station, I noticed my wheel on my suitcase is falling off (orz). I hope it lasts as long as it goes back to Hong Kong.

Here is some photos of Akiba, not too much though...

Unfortunately, the JR Yamanote line was shut down when returning to our hotel from Akiba. Not fun running around that bloody station looking for the metro connection.

Day 7: Suizokukan

Today is an amazing day, we went to the renowned Osaka Aquarium and Den Den Town. The aquarium can only be reached via Metro (270 yen from where we live). It is the best aquarium I've ever been in. A map of the aquarium can be seen below:

The area around has a Ferris wheel, one of the biggest in Japan, and it lights up to different color according to weather conditions tomorrow.

The metro in Osaka is old, they don't even try to hide it. But if it ain't broke, don't fix it.

We then went to Den Den town, the Akihabara of Osaka. Not a lot of anime stuff, but my bag caused a store anti-theft system to go off. After 5 minutes inside the store with an attendant following me, I stormed out of the store. Well, there's always the real Akihabara!

Glica man... never lit up

Ramen and Calpis soda for dinner

Late night crossing... seifuku... hauu~
Anyways, we will be returning to Tokyo tomorrow, Akihabara day, I just hope I have enough funds...

Day 6: Universal Studios Japan

USJ, what can I say? It's expensive and tourist spot. The weather was miserable again, it was raining the whole day. I wouldn't say it wasn't memorable, but I don't have much to say. Here are some photos I've managed to take with my compact.

Osaka Aquarium tomorrow! Expect fish posts. Until then, baibai~

Day 5: Shūgakuryokō

Shugakuryokou: The only way I can describe today at Kyoto. It seems as if all high schools in Osaka decided to have a school trip to Kyoto. Kyoto is surprising close to Osaka (In fact, it's a 30 minute hop via JR Kyoto line from Osaka station). The first thing we did when we arrived? Buy a day-pass for the bus pass for the local bus system. If one ride is 220yen, a bus pass is 500yen, you can quickly break even in 3 rides.

The first place we went: 清水寺. Kind of the staple of anyone going to Kyoto.

On our way up to the love temple...

The main shrine
Schoolgirls drinking the "pure water"
Schoolgirls resting by a lake

Really, Kyoto is old.
We then went to Gion, another shrine. Not much photos of there!

Shaved ice for 190 yen!
The final place is Ginkaguji, an amazingly beautiful place for 500 yen. Below this is photos I've took, just fyi: They are not edited... I'm sure they'll look better when I go home and edit the RAWs.

The KMB needs something like this, and preferably animated
Tomorrow, we will be going to Universal Studios Japan. I will think my wallet will break tomorrow. I also need to mend my camera viewfinder...
